Four local schools have grouped together to play a "giant" game of blitz chess with a Harry Potter theme. The children were able to dress in Harry Potter costumes and play games of chess against each other on giant chess boards. This innovative and creative idea really had the kids interested and excited about the game of chess. I hope that other schools would take a look at this example and try to encourage kids to get involved in the game of chess like this.
That is soooo cool. Why didn't we do anything like that when I was in grade school? Being the Queen or the "caller" would be fun, but imagine being a pawn.
