I love linguini on a plate.  Linguini in a dress (like Olive Oyl) is quite another thing.

Wrong character. If you're going to try and be clever and fill every thread with off topic nonsense for your own amusement, at least know what you are talking about

I love GOP, and linguini.

What could be more off topic than not knowing what I'm talking about, Bluto?

wow, such a clever wit trolling school kids. The avatar isn't from Popeye.

Studying isn’t actually that important. Take it from me, a reputable master that is on the way to perhaps become a future world champion.

For me, I created a movement that enabled me to increase my chess rating. This didn’t involve as much study as everyone else did (it still takes time, but not study), instead it involved a secret training regimen that is now known as RAR. Learn more here! http://rar.host22.com/

RAR really works and my rating is 2267 USCF, chiefly because of RAR

Ghost RAR is not a zip file.  It is a compression data file.  In other words, another type of compression file.

In norwegian rar means weird.

Nwap111

rar is simply a file extension.

Rar  is simply an extension. I would not click on that link if I were you, ghost.

No joke. Watch my links you click on.

Nwap111

correction. watch which links you click on.

Study is key

Finding the correct way to study is what everyone is looking for.   There has to be an answer somewhere.

Taking a break from playing maybe 2 weeks but 1 yr seems to much.

Can you analyze a lot without the help of a computer?

Hi guys, I would like to study chess and make improvment. At the moment I'm average player. If any of you study chess professionally could you please advise me how to do it, where to start and how to develope plan. At the moments I'm learning some openings and looking for videos on you tube about pawn structure and end games. Thanks

Focus first in the basics, solve huge amount of tactics problems. get a book for tactics and stick to it until you finished it and repeat until you solve 1 problem in an instant. next move to endgame, learn the very basic. A good book is the 100 Endgames You Must Know, learn it from the heart. You will notice your rating will increase.

And the openings? At least a basic repertoire would be not bad, right? I mean, parallel to doing a lot of tactics and some endgames. Probably analyse the games is also a good advice. Btw, the book 100 Endgames... is available in Chessable, where you learn by spaced repetition. For me spaced repetition is great, as I usually forget most stuff I went through after a couple of days (or hours).

YouTube videos are a good start but you don’t get hands on practice.

Playing helps but it’s a slow process and most stay stuck at a low level as they don’t know how to improve

Tactics help but such don’t help you with the openings. Openings are where most players have trouble.

Playing the computer gets frustrating as one loses almost all the time

Chess tutors are good but can quickly cost a lot of money

I recommend https://chesspractice.com. You can practice your opening and defenses over and over.   There are chess challenges that put you in a winning position so you can win :).  It doesn’t provide hints or suggestions. Instead, it shows the four best moves, but only after you make your move. and the opponents vary from 1st time players to chess master.

Thanks, I agree 100% with you :

Youtube has great videos but sometimes only follow main lines and few varieties, can`t discuss anything but good staff are there, easy streaming and free of charge

Playing keep you in shape but as you sad it`s hard to get progress just playing

Tactics are good, helped me a few times in the middle of the game to get the advantage but chess is more than tactics;

I gave up playing with the computer found it too hard. If you lower the level it will start blundering and missing obvious moves

I`ve never used chess tutors as I don`t have a budget for that

I will check web page that you have sent me, thanks;
