My school's PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) wants me to lead an intro to chess workshop during their January meeting, but I have NO experience teaching chess, except to my own kids at home. The meeting will likely be virtual as well. The PTO wanted to focus on how chess can help students with strategic thinking.
I was hoping to do something more than just a talk/speech, but I also don't have a clue how to do any activities with inexperienced adults and children that would be interesting given the time and virtual constraints. Has anyone done something similar and would be interested in sharing some ideas to help me with this? We're also considering starting up a chess club at the school, so doing this well would go a long way to helping me get the club off the ground.
