Learn strategy at 1199?

Make sense for a 1199 chess.com player read about strategy? I was told that, in the begining, people should learn tactics, but strategy seems a fun subject.

Depends on how superficial and how much "deep analysis/study" is spent. I have always been a big advocate for learning stuff above ones' level. That is true "learning" but not everyone excels at stuff above their head for the moment. I would say you could glance at it if you are motivated, but to save the "real study" for a time when your understanding is greater (true for lots of things, not just "chess strategy."

At least for me, I didn't begin to investigate positional chess strategy until maybe about 1600 chess.com rating and it wasn't until maybe 1800-ish I actually understood most of it fully. If you feel excited to look into it though, I'd say go for it regardless of your rating! happy.png Just be willing to also go back to it and "review" when you are better in understanding.

Maybe, but I personally started strategy as 1200 ish player, and thats prob the only reason I'm even 1600+

You don't need to learn strategy before 1400.
