My little garden

My name is something something from Canada, long time gamer and life student. Generally when I dive in a new activity I get obsess with the thing. I created my account on chess.com in august 2015, but played only several games to see that I wasn't really good at it or more so, improving. I remembered in the begining of july this year about chess, when coming accross Chessbrah on twitch, which I had been following for at least 3 years as I liked the guy and his energy, Erik Hansen, and their whole crew was kind of a little family who I enjoyed getting in their life from time to time, as streaming is ultimately reality TV.

As I started to play chess again, I seem to enjoy the feel of the battle more and more. I was doing bad to start with and dropped to about 340 elo, which was at the 3% percentile or so. I couldn't believe that I was performing so badly, then I realised that most of my advantages lost were from my part. Everything that was happening that I could attribute to being bad, was done from panic or time screw up. I have to say, most my games were played in 3 minutes blitz and some bullet as well, but how can you learn when things go litterally to fast for you.

I was not winning at the frequecy I would like.. and more so, I wasn't improving at all. Went from playing 3 minutes to 5 and then 10. I read a bit of chess books and played tactics. Started analyzing most of my games, spent a lot of time on youtube and other chess websites. I found that I really liked this game and wanted to grow more than only being at the roots of the ladder, I had a desire to perform. I took a couple days of break and spaced out of everything, came back and started playing 10 minutes blitz. As I played, I saw a difference in my understanding, I wasn't only playing, I was learning from my every move, of course you miss some from time to time, but if you can focus on your play things will change. I got a 21 win streak which kicked my ambition.

I grew from Elo: 365 to Elo:922 in 31 days.

Guys, never give up, just understand what is happening, if things are rough, take a break or try new moves, risk something.

I wanted to share this little story to keep minded learners in the good direction.

Thank you readers
