Post New Pawn Formation(s) You Have Encountered And Not In Books

Sort:

Please post any pawn formation(s) you have encountered which are not discussed in chess theoretical books. They might not be new necessarily but have not been listed or discussed elsewhere. Or they could be "new" to others.

I appreciate your contribution(s) beforehand. And have a nice day too.

A.  Soltis 's book "Pawn Structure Chess " discusses more than 14 major formations in his book.  There are others that have written books about the subject. But there more formations that might not have been discussed for variety of reasons.  One is that they present similar challenges to White and Black. Or they simply transform into the major formations that might have been studied.

But also they  may not have been properly discussed or published.

Pawn formations are the backbone of chess,  in my humble opinion. They connect openings to middle game to endgame and obviously to win or loss.  Knowing more about pawn structures is the key to knowing chess from a general point of view.

This is an effort to create a listing of as many Pawn Formations as possible. Why? You might ask? Although a lot of work has been done on the subject,  one needs to see how his/her personal experience relates to the subject area discussed. To do that, the pawn formation(s) your post might relate to others who post and/or other formations that have been studied and/or published.

This will give a more clear understanding of Chess Game and/or Chess Theory.

So your participation will contribute to the Whole Picture of chess for all.

Please load your intended formation up. Or be more clear about what you describe.

Also what you are trying to describe is one side of the board so please load a picture of the whole formation, including whole board, please.

Sicilian Defence,Open, Nadjorf, Scheveningen Variation: e4 c5 Nf3 d6 d4 cxd4 Nxd4 Nf6 Nc3 e6 Bc4 a6 Bb3 Be7 f4 b5 creates the classic 2v3 pawn structure on the queenside, plus a central majority for black

Those are the opening moves.  It would be nice if you could show a picture of the pawn structure too.

You don't need to be sorry we all make mistakes if that is the case here.  What do you mean by: "move order issues"?

That pawn majority vs  pawn minority  happens in many formations.  It is a part of many patterns also we call structure( or formation).

Have you read about Pawn Structures? What have you read?
