Add Mittens permanently

Just a short and sweet question.

Why don't they add Mittens permanently?

I'll try to make this less exponential then planned:

The first time the Mittens bot came to Chess.com, it brought waves of members all trying to oppose the "unbeatable" bot. Fans, members and streamers would go crazy over the bot. Chess.com also brought the bot back in December of 2023, and the same effect happened, where tons of new members were joining and everyone was trying to beat the bot.

If Chess.com were to bring the bot back to stay permanently, everyone would go crazy for the first few months, but then the bot will begin to wither away. If they keep cycling it, it'll bring attention every single time. My question is: when will Mittens come back again?

Great points, @Catdragoning! After I've thought about this, I agree that bringing Mittens back permanently might lose some of the magic over time. Part of what makes Mittens so exciting is the anticipation and buzz surrounding its limited availability. It turns into an event that draws in the community, streamers, and new players alike.

That said, I wonder if Chess.com could strike a balance by perhaps bringing Mittens back on a predictable schedule — like once a year for 'Mittens Month' or during special occasions. This way, people could look forward to it without losing that feeling of exclusivity.

What do you all think? Would a recurring but limited schedule keep Mittens excited while still giving everyone something to look forward to?

Yes, I do think having a schedule would keep the exclusiveness of Mittens, and keep people excited. There are always bots with the same "unbeatable" category as Mittens, but they never seem to catch on.
