back, forward arrow changed to undo

Sort:

when playing against the bot, there used to be back and forward arrows in the bottom right, it got changed to undo. I don't like this change as I used the back arrow to see if the bot took a piece during its move as its move is too quick for me to see. please make an option to put back the back and forward arrows.

Hmmm, a bug maybe. I don't quite understand what you are explaining?

When you play against a bot there is now an undo button. The button undose the computer and your last move. There used to be 2 buttons in the same area that were back and forth buttons, to back up or forward one move at a time. It's nice to be able to go back one move to see what the bot is doing, and then I could use the forward button to continue with the game. The undo button will cause the game to reevaluate the game and might do a different move, which I don't want it to do. Does that help?

+1 same problem which makes me feel like it's by design. I really hate it, I liked being able to replay the game to see how it evolved to this point, what my last move was (especially when playing over a few days) etc.

But now Undo will often actually have the computer come up with a different move.

This has been driving me bonkers since they changed it. I've looked for some setting to go back to the normal back and forward arrows... but it seems like we're stuck with the undo button for now.

Completely flabbergasted at why they thought it was a good idea to take away a feature people use every day and replace it with something with less functionality. For what possible reason?

mikesalvatore90

I agree that this is a significant downgrade. I'd very much like to see the old functionality restored.

I also agree. It was a great feature for when I had to stop playing throughout the day and wanted to pick up where I left off. I could go back and basically rewatch the game to remind myself of how the positions developed and what I was planning

@awmccombs @bnjii26 @mikesalvatore90 @JTMarmot Thank you for the feedback. You are still able to go back move by move by tapping the moves in the move list. Do you see this?

mikesalvatore90

@gabejacobs Yes! Thanks. It's not as intuitive as the old interface (IMHO), but it gets the job done.

SonOfSpam996

@gabejacobs, Thanks for pointing this out... I didn't realize this lets you jump in and try something different too. That's extremely helpful!

But please change it back!!
