Saving Games vs Bots (and UI suggestion)

Why aren't games against bots saved by default?

It would be great if there was a temporary save where you can check your game before deciding if you want to keep it or not. The only way I know is to go to Game Review immediately after, but if you miss your chance to go to game review then the game is lost forever. Or is it?

At the very least, make it easier to click the right button.  Because for an idiot like me this is way too difficult. I can't be the only one.

Here is the popup after a opening a game in my games archive:

Could I have paid more attention sure? I didn't do a blunder check and just moved without giving it a second thought.  It took less than a second to click on the big green button.

Here are my two suggestions:

  • Keep the UI consistent. In one situation the green button means: go to game review, while in  another, yet very similar situation, the green button means: don't go to game review and lose your game forever.
  • Maybe don't go to game review and lose your game forever could be changed to don't go to game review (but find your game archived somewhere else).

My guess is that it's all too easy for players to mess around with the bots and end up adding a lot of unnecessary data to wherever they're saving the games. Most bot games are super casual, so you'd only save games you considered important. Tho I do admit that I've lost a few experimental games to the ether because I forgot to save the games, but I've never cared all too much

I do however agree that the UI doesn't help the situation. You can't build a habit in users then not expect them to play into those habits when they see a similar button
