I just became a diamond member about a week ago, and it's well worth the money :)
My Take on the Diamond Membership
I just renewed my diamond membership today. Still kicking myself for missing out on a golden opportunity back when the site was growing to get lifetime diamond.

how much did that cost?
It was $500, but that was back when chess mentor was it's own seperate subscription and Erik wasn't really sure about the success of the site or what kinds of services would be offered.
I don't begrudge the loss of that, it was a huge steal even then.
Link your chess.com account to facebook and you'll be Diamond Member for two weeks :)
But then you would have to have a facebook account. Yuck.
The number one reason why I decided to go Diamond are the videos. I have been learning chess and playing small tournaments for about a year and a haf now and these videos are exactly what I have been looking for because a) I want to learn and improve my game but b) I am very lazy and easily bored. Videos provide me with a fun way to learn important chess principles (plus IM Rensch's videos are totally hilarious).
Opening books are very nice. Although I still don't know what I'm doing in the opening, now at least I can learn how it's called.
Computer analysis is usefull, although the evaluation of the moves in the endgame can be confusing (awarding ?? to a move that leads to forced mate seems a bit extreme, even if there is a quicker mate available.)
All in all, I feel that I'm getting my money's worth and I will continue to subscibe.
Ive had gold for almost 2 months now, and very happy. If I upgrade, it would be for more tournaments and chess mentor.
Stuff like video lessons is strictly a no-no if you live in a country with the most expensive data, not to mention unreliable.
