There should be a way to report threads.

We should be able to report threads/thread titles the same way that we are able to report comments.

Hmm. There is.

You can report the first post.

Gregg-Turkington

Correct. But what does that look like on the other end? Is there something about reporting the first post that indicates that the user is actually reporting the thread/thread title? Because in this case there’s nothing particularly offensive or inappropriate about the first post.

So you are saying that the entire thread is a threat to the Community?

Gregg-Turkington

No, not at all.

Has my suggestion bothered you?

No. I am just trying to get you to be more specific about what it is that you are objecting to.

@justbefair I get his point, how is the title of that thread in compliance with terms of service and community guidelines within Chess.com policy? Is it acceptable policy to "joke" about killing the person posting above you? So many of the posted threads on Chess.com are just a wasteland of bad taste, no humor, vitriolic trollish nonsense. It does not boost the value of the social commentary on Chess.com. It seems obvious to me that based on the headline of the thread, it should be reportable to do away with the nonsense that is going to follow.

All you had to do was ask me to be more specific.

As it stands, we are able to report comments that might be inappropriate or break TOS etc. However, there’s no way to report a thread or its title (in those cases a user has to directly message a mod or email staff). I’m suggesting there be a report button by thread titles in the same way that there are report buttons beside comments.

I’ve seen similar threads to the one that I’ve exampled locked or removed. If you think that it’s fine, then fine. But since there is no way to report it, this is one an alternative way to bring attention to it.

Yes but but evidently no more than my profile pic was

Post in “Site Feedback” get met with smartalickry. What’s the point?

Maybe this is where mods get their release after a frustrating day at work.

Fish face had it all figured out.

A là who? Ackbar

Gregg-Turkington

I guess so. Make note: do not offer feedback in the feedback forum.

On another note, if the thread that I brought up is not that big of a deal then why were these locked?

Those "will you XYZ the person above you" threads need autolocks at this point. Program the spam filters to detect them already like they did with forbidden words. It's out of control, and probably part of the reason the servers are crashing all the time.

WTFrickenA

I actually reported that drab, but I'm mad baffled why the mod hadn't closed it, for sure! =/

Gregg-Turkington

Out of curiosity, how did you report it?
