Unacceptable irresponsible and negligent to lock serious feedback topic without a relevant response

I used to occasionally consider applying for the support jobs that chess.com advertised, then I read threads like this and I'm glad none of it is my problem

For years and years and years and years this site has fought tooth and nail against pretty much any and every outcry for change. To maximize profits at the expense of the user experience, always. CEO's in general get no sympathy from the public for good reason.

Wow!...surprise.... who knew that so many young chess players are familiar with digital & Corporate finance. If I ever hit the lottery, I'm gonna ask you people for advice. wink

Pretty stunning the amount of entrepreneurs and business owners chiming in isn't it?

Life is so simple when your young & ignorant. wink

Looks like some new safety measures may have been put in place by C.c. If so, than some more in depth information would be appreciated.

Money often conflicts with logical morals, and the latter is my only concern here. It doesn't take a greedy person to spot greed. I'm glad they changed something about new accounts being able to post images. I do wish they communicated more about it.

IDK, if all you have to do is play a few games, trollers can just lose games on purpose to post images.

OneThousandEightHundred18

Perhaps, but this is the first time I've seen *anything* meaningful being done. So it's appreciated, even if more ends up being required.

As part of a wearing out them out strategy, why not? It's not really much extra effort like calling trolls trollers.

RonaldJosephCote

Mods & Staff would see that pattern easily enough. My guess is they would put up with that for maybe 3 days then kill the account.

Very true 236

That's all the time a troll needs to troll #238

Communication from the site in general is one of the most frustrating experiences here. Sometimes just getting an answer to a simple and valid question is met with snarky and or dismissive responses.

What do reports look like on the moderators end?

Snarky dismissive response: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/site-feedback/there-should-be-a-way-to-report-threads#comment-96814583

Even when a member is asking for an explanation from support as to why they have been muted. The response is a generic, "We are sorry, you have been unmuted" , no explanation why unless you spend two weeks of email exchanges pressing for an answer.

Proper communication from the site in general is lacking.

it is telling that, aside from offering compensation to martin, this is the only post you deem worthy of a response.

in a topic where members would like answers from staff/mods about site issues.

my post (like 1818's) is anecdotal and will surely be scrolled past by mods and staff. however, it is revealing.

i recently spoke with a returning member that has been here since almost the start of the site. said member hadn't been active for about a decade. this person had many choice words for how site functions have either remained the same or become worse. the example i remember was that there is a character limit in the chat for daily games. i hadn't noticed at the time, but, sure enough, he was right. while other sites work to move forward, a little thing like game chat being restricted means a lot, and is a big fail.

Have you heard the one about class consciousness only being achievable by the proletariat?

I fail to see how asking for or complaining about customer service could be considered a Marxism-related issue by any reasonable person. It seems more like an overreaching attempt to appear smart. Did you just learn about this recently? That's usually how it goes with kids...they learn something new and imagine they are the only ones that know or understand it, as if it's their own personal discovery as opposed to something they absorbed elsewhere.

Don't project your limitations onto others, please.
