The site has paid support staff. The forum mods are volunteers and moderate when they can and have time

Actually_Forgot_My_Name

The forum mods should really be paid... Even just a little...

I think @Richard has been in that position for at least a couple of years.

If THE LAST COUPLE OF YRS then wtf is going on?

Is exactly why they should A FAIR PAY pay for that service. This doesn't even make sense they haven't already decided they need to pay for such.

Their PRIORITY should clearly be to insure their members QUALITY TIME IN FORUMS & of course to pay the needed to ABSOLUTELY HANDLE the toxic nonsense that never should have been accepted as long as it already has.

Apparently you haven't been online, and obviously not your present acc., and viewed the beyond disgusting obnoxious images that recent id!ots have been plap'n about in otf on most main chatting threads. That is of course if you aren't the perpetrator to begin with.

.....mr 1 day opened account

WTFrickenA

...and if you are him you better step it and get tf off cc now

Please answer me honestly, @WinOneGameLoseOne... Are you a troll or not? Do you know who Idiot Box is?

The couple of years was only in reference to how long the mod lead has been doing that, nothing about the recent discussions around abusers

Hi all,

Just an update on this we have been working on making improvements and they are due to go live shortly, thank you for your patience with this. The experience and safety of our community is of utmost importance to us. Thank you for your feedback it's much appreciated.

Warm regards

Richard

Okay, I appreciate the fact that you are (hopefully) implementing changes that will weaken the trolls. But... Please don't lock this thread... I think people should really see this, even after the changes go into effect...

I don't know what you mean by "plap'n" and "otf". Accusing me of being some perpetrator of toxicity when you have no valid evidence is actually doing what you are complaining about. You are making it more toxic.

Now, I have two choices. Since I didn't start the thread, I can't block anyone. I can simply leave and laugh at your frustrations. Or, I can stay here and be entertained more by your frustrations. Which do you want? You also have that option. If you don't like it, LEAVE. If you like it, JOIN IN.

I never accused you, though expressed what certainly could be the case in regards to your 1 day join and what we daily deal with here.

Yo GREAT NEWS . 👍

I wouldn't jump on "Win one, lose one" too quickly. He's been here 1 day but he has 2 chess-related threads,....so No, I don't think he knows who "idiot-box"is. I DO know 1 thing thow. The last time I reported "idiot-box" earlier this week, he joined maybe 1 hr before I logged on. In that hr he quickly managed to be friends with "BasicWhiteBoy". So you may wanna be more careful with who you become friends with.

No, you are doing worse than accusing. Anyone who has a 1 day join date should be suspect?

Sorry, it's just that we deal with way too many trolls that post disturbing images... We are just a bit paranoid and weary...

There is no need to pay anything. There is no need for moderators to do anything. Each person who creates a thread can moderate it. If you don't like what someone says in YOUR thread, you can block them. You can also create a club.

I would rather live in an environment with free speech and regulate the toxicity on my end without a bodyguard moderator intervening. Chess.com seems to be doing a good job with that compared to a competing site which will close your account immediately. I don't want chess.com to become like that.

It would help if users could delete comments from their own threads. Then they wouldn't have to get accounts muted and closed to make comments disappear.

If people were mature enough to use such a feature well. Realistically, that would just result in a bunch of petty censorship and drama.

You mean like what you have in the clubs that are supposed to be the discussion alternative for public forums?
