I've already disabled it months ago. They are not meebo ads.
i know, i was replying to the other poster who did ask about the meebo ads :)

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but on the bottom toolbar where the IM program is, the lower left corner I get these little pop-up ads.
Adblock plus seems to block them for me.
Chess.com becomes impossible to use because of some very intrusive flash ads that appeared recently.
They are all 'find your soulmate', 'have sex with some 3D doll' kind of ads and they pop up everywhere like crazy and freeze my games. I have to go through a lot of pain to make a single move.
This is only a recent issue and wasn't happening before.
I don't care too much about the type of ads you put on the website as I use my private computer, but if you could avoid making them popup everywhere and freeze my browser (scrolling bar of the chess.com window), that would be nice (latest IE on perfectly clean win7)
And no, I'm not changing my very nice IE for some RAM eating open source crap just to play chess online. I'd rather timeout all my games.
Thanks for hearing me.
I hear you, but I work in IT and I know a little about this. IE is THE worst browser - Firefox, Chrome and Opera (among others) are far quicker and use less resources. Check out http://www.consumersearch.com/web-browser-reviews (or Google for lots of similar comparison tests).
The sex ads you have been experiencing are almost definitely caused by a malware infection. I recommend you try AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php) or SpyBot (http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10401314.html) if you want to get rid of it.
Thanks for taking the time whiteknight56.
I work in IT as well and even wrote some technical articles about malwares (reverse engineering on windows and linux - for those who think linux is safe...) and I can tell you for sure I have 0 malware on my computer. (the ads are not X-rated anyway)
You can find the screenshot example there:

Just by looking at it I'm sure you can conclude like me there is an HTML/CSS positionning bug somewhere on chess.com's page.
As for your immature comment about IE:
Know that the reviews you read are either written by linux/open source hyppies or ignorant bloggers. (firefox is a mine of incompatibilities and above all, the slowest, most resource wasting browser I've ever used in the 12 years of my professional life, while IE8 is amazingly FAST, resource friendly and not less secure than other browsers)
PS:
With ads poping everywhere while writing this message, I think I deserve some holidays far from here, until this is fixed.
see you
I don't know if it is the ads or not but it is seriously lagging the access time between pages on here lately :( Hopefully going Diamond will take that away I can't stand this 45 sec. between page loadings
@repecmps: The problem is definitely on your side. Try a malware scanner. Also, try using another browser. Here's a screenshot to prove that the site doesn't have any problem.

@ChessMarksTheSpot: For me, it usually takes 3-4 seconds for a page to fully load. The problem may be with your internet connection, or maybe we connect to different severs.
Normally my connection is pretty good. It just seems to be lately it's been lagging. And on my laptop it's been slower than usual, unless I just need to do a defrag or something.

Ok, you're right - I assumed you were talking about porn, which had to be malware. But your screenshot seems to show a bona fide ad.
As for it being immature to call IE the worst browser, well you're welcome to hold that view. But my view is honestly held - is yours? Or do you have a vested interest in promoting Microsoft products? Perhaps your job involves supporting them? Just curious...
Anyway, as an IT professional who seems anti-free software perhaps it would be appropriate for you to subscribe to this site. You should be able to afford it, the rates are very reasonable. Then you'd see no ads at all. Or are you also against paying for software?
whiteknight, chess.com is worth buying a premium membership (but that means I need to come very regularly and invest a lot of time in chess to make the most of it and I'm not sure I have the time for that)
As for the microsoft / open source war... oh well...

No, this is not the forum for an IT flame war. Perhaps you'd like a game of chess then, loser will install the browser of his opponent's choice and use it for six months? ;)
