I'm not too concerned about my location, I even posted a "view from my roof", lol
I'm considering other players who prefer to stay anon, but are locatable using tools available on this site and have expressed suprise/concern at being locatable.
The tools are not always right, eg.. it says that at the time of writing this, you (msoewulff) are at Washington Park off North 40th street, near the lake!
Is it possible for a player to stop chess.com showing the location of a player on the map? (other than by going off line, maybe tick an option in account settings?).
Some people may not want to be located.
Hope you've got a sense of humour. I'd have to swim to find you. And I don't swim, Bruce.
we have talked about this before in another threads and erik said "do not type in anything in the location box" problem solved.

There are other tools that identify location in detail, and they have no relationship to anything that you may type into the "Location Box"
what are you talking about ?
When I select "international' it put me in the middle of the Great Sandy Desert !type "Perth" put me 15km away from my actual place, once I type my old address it put me in the middle of the correct suburb where I used to live.

The behaviour of the interactive map to changes in country location is fascinating ...
