Is it possible for a player to stop chess.com showing the location of a player on the map? (other than by going off line, maybe tick an option in account settings?).

Some people may not want to be located.

dont give your location. I know where you are from now.

I'm not too concerned about my location, I even posted a "view from my roof", lol

I'm considering other players who prefer to stay anon, but are locatable using tools available on this site and have expressed suprise/concern at being locatable.

The tools are not always right, eg.. it says that at the time of writing this, you (msoewulff) are at Washington Park off North 40th street, near the lake!

Hope you've got a sense of humour. I'd have to swim to find you. And I don't swim, Bruce.

There are other tools that identify location in detail, and they have no relationship to anything that you may type into the "Location Box"

kco

what are you talking about ?

When I select "international' it put me in the middle of the Great Sandy Desert !type "Perth" put me 15km away from my actual place, once I type my  old address it put me in the middle of the correct suburb where I used to live.

I was just attempting to visit the main cultural centres around the world and I end up in N. America. Go figure!

"Davy Jones' Locker" is to be found in Newcastle-under-Lyme (near Stoke-on-Trent)!

p.s. better practice my accent before I go oop t' toon. Laughing

My internet provider seems to be in a van driving around the M25. The member map is hyperactive - not interactive.
