It's possible to choose any available opening from the presets, at least in Online chess. Choose from the drop-list "start a new chess game with game options I select" and you will be able to choose from a wide list of openings.

They might not be happy if you put them over 10% timeouts.

he means that if friends are set to auto accept other friends' challenges, there is the chance that the one auto accepting is not around to play the game. this can result in time-outs which add to their time-out percentage which can hinder them from being able to join tournaments (for example).
Ah I see - perhaps each game can also have a feature option to disable auto-timeout-win claims.
I'd never want to win with an auto-timeout generally against friends.
On other sites I see that the default is not to allow an auto-win, but once time has elapsed, you are eligible to 'claim' the win. I liked the way that works.
If I challenge a friend to a new game, and I play White, doesn't it make sense to also provide the first move in the challenge? This saves a step in the back and forth of trying to get a game setup.
