This should be very easy to implement. Just create a move-counter to show you how many moves deep you are from the original position.
I very much enjoy being able to play a tactical position all the way 'till the end. This is one thing that sets "computer workout" apart from mere tactical puzzles, which you can do anywhere.
A move-counter would make the whole process (computer-working-out) even more unique & excellent. Then you could try to improve your time from, say, winning a piece, to inevitable mate.
Another cool option would be to make your computer-workouts downloadable as FEN/PGN's. But I realize this would probably require a lot of coding. However the move counter shouldn't require too much.
