Download PGN's

Every month or so I like to add all my completed games to my personal DB.

Now I play lots of games, and it's quite hard to figure out exactly where I left off last time.

Couldn't it be possible to flag already downloaded games? At the moment it's just easier to download the whole lot (over 3000) all over again.

Until they add the feature you want, can you make your cutoff for a download a specific date, so that you have all the games from Sep 12, for instance, and none of the games from Sep 13 ?  Then shouldn't you be able to see the dates when you're in game selection mode for whatever you're using to view the PGN file, and when they're sorted by date just see at a glance where it leaves off?

Or, once a month, start an unrated game and name it "PGN Download Marker <Month_name>", download up to that point. Wink

Thanx. But that means I have to download page by page. If I select games on page 1, and go to page 2, page 1 becomes deselected. And I have to wait for the 1st page to reach my email before I can start on page 2. I generate about 8 pages per month.

Click View Games Archive, and you get 50 games per page listed. Do you play 8 x 50 games per month - or only 8 x 10 games per month?

I play about 170 per month.

Rebooting ...

so download a 50-page set of games at a time, called PGN Download Page N. You'll be able to keep track on your computer whether you have downloaded a particular page or not. (Only download page N when page N+1 exists - so that you can be sure page N is full.)

Don't worry.  Maybe you just bruised him.

This is basically Cystem_Phailure's solution - just tweaked a bit. Problems are a lot easier to solve when you stand on the shoulders of giants.
