my problem with chesscube is that it takes so much time to load at the start.
I am great with both sides of the board. sometimes i would like to have the choice of a color however, and I just think that this complicates matters. how come you sometimes get like 3-5 games in a row with the same color? also, all of my friends are either WAY above my rating level or WAY under my rating level. so when I want an even game with the color of my choice, I am NOT willing to let a cpu decide for me. end of story for me. no, electric eel, there are other reasonable, mature, and adult players here too. only the childish ones whine and pout about not being able to get white every game.

If I wanna practice on a color, I want it to be rated so I really feel the pressure. that is how i am wired. I do not play the same color all the time... just look at my live chess game archives and you will be shocked. I hate people that will only play one color, but you should have the freedom to choose your color.

yes, i completely understand your point now StupidDrip95. you don't want to play chess. you only want to get a high rating. and the way for you to get that is to always play as white. so it makes obvious sense that a rule about making chess equal for all (i.e. you can't always choose white in rated games) would offend you so much. i think i just figured out your "problem". this is a chess site, not a 'who can get the highest rating' site. you might want to consider this point for a little bit.

Ret, I do not only play white. in fact, if you will kindly go to my stats page, you will prob see that I do better with black than white. I play almost equal amounts of both colors, and when I sent out seeks, one would be white and the other black. I have stated my point and I cant stand this

It was a joke, the relevant part of which you seem to have missed. Replace "you want" with "everyone wants" if you find it less offensive -- the point is that rating points don't actually have value.
I like to see my rating climb, but I will not use the same methods over and over again, or the same color. I have played tournaments, and I know all about random colors. What I DONT like is that you cant even chooose on a RATED game what color you can be. THAT is what THIS is all ABOUT!!!! If you cant grasp that, GET OUT OF MY LIFE!!

Yes, that will make for a balanced discussion -- block everyone who disagrees with you so that they can't respond.
It might be easier, though, to just start a group for you and everyone else who disagrees with this change so that you can all commiserate there and leave the forums uncluttered with your whining.
rated games will reflect your strength (for some reasons, the rating may not reflect the real score). But if you choose to play only white, and let's say you got around 1800+ rating, then the rating will not reflect your real strength as this should be balanced by your playing of the black pieces.
so in rated games, my suggestion:
1. determine the percentage of colors (e.g. White = 80%, Black = 20%)
2. for random pick, based on the example on 1, the formula's seed will likely pick Black (so most of the times you will play the black pieces, and this does not mean that you will never play the white pieces, it's just that the probabilty is Black > White in random rated games)
