Support for Java and Flash

  I think a lot of problems with functionality would be solved if forum/news posts supported flash and java.  With the added functionality users would be able to utilize third party applications to suit their needs in many cases (like polls and surveys).

Allowing that type of thing to be posted at will by users opens up a whole host of potential issues probably most problematic of which is security.

What specific functionality problems are you referring to?

Specifially those I mentioned in the first post.   The ability for anyone to create polls and surveys in their blog posts.  In my case I'd like to be able to poll my local chess club for a concise way to decide where and when to meet.  I read a post that said we'd have the ability to do so "soon" but the post was dated 2007.

I think the ability to create polls is a much needed feature.
