Hi erik and staff, seeing that earlier you have create a group where the peoples can discuss cheating as we are not allowed to discuss it in the forum so I was wondering could you do the same thing for the 'resignation' threads ?

kco

I am holding it ..... :-)

And another for discussion about piece values, and one for arguing about Bobby Fischer, and another for e4 vs. d4....

kco

Yeah, but those one don't really give us a headache.

kco

but the problem is, is doesn't end.

TheGrobe

You'd think eventually that all of the proponents of resignation would quit and you'd be left with a consensus among the remaining members who would all be from the "never-resign" crowd.

Maybe one group just isn't practicing what they preach....

trysts

When I respond to a resign thread, it's almost like faking that I'm dying. It loses all significance and becomes comical.

kco

well they would have to be careful cause erik would be the super admin. of that group !

And why are you still tracking the topic if it bothers you??

Just turn off the tick and leave the topic to those who still don't mind discussing it.

No sense outlawing topics that are repeated when they are so heavily discussed.

yes true, also at the same time it becoming unhelpful

Stupid is still within the Terms of Service, so no help there kco.

(I so want to post that pic of Suggo's ghost but that insert image thing is still on the fritz.)

is because when aadvanced learner playing against a higher rated player in the tournament in which they holding it up is because one of the person hasn't resign yet in a hopeless postion. and to me that not teaching the player correct way of playing because he heard the other players were saying never die. Is ok to do it in a friendly game.

kco

maybe that is what erik need to do, is to put up a Resignation etiquette for the many different situations

goldendog

"But it's their right."

Okay nobody say that now, it's done.

Beester

sigh.... I have learned the errors of my ways...

If you don't like the subject of a thread, why don't you just skip it? Is it that hard?

no is not that hard, but a lot of players  who has an attitude of never give up is sending the wrong message to the general members in some situation.

kco

they are like the "white noise" are they ?

kco

Funny enough Lisa to all the peoples who has responded here only have read have half of my title !!

I think that, for every five topics that anyone starts, one of those topics should be required to be on the 'R' theme.

If something is annoying it shouldn't automatically banned. resigning is an endless discussion, but one which is about chess, and one that doesn't necessarily hurt people.
If discussion threads are the most annoying on this site, that's a good thing.
