Hi Pete,
I always do invite only, but we have 482 members in Chess Nuts... so end up with some registering for the wrong tournament.. I normally create 3 tournaments. 900-1400, 1400-1800, >1800, but not all pay attention to the details/ratings and join any tournament. They can't join the wrong team matches as chess.com automatically prevents them from doing so.. would like to see the same thing happen with tournaments.
:)
Is it possible to stop members who are not in the correct rating range for a particular tounament from joining that tournament, just like you have restrictions in team match joining?
Every time I create a tournament and specify a rating range, members either below or above that rating range will also join it. Another problem that arises is that the Tournament Director cannot remove any players from that registration list. We can in team match lists. It would be great to have more control with the tournaments we create.
The consequences are we have to individually message each member and ask them to remove themselves from that tournament and register for the correct tournament for their rating range. Painful, time consuming, and not all members heed the request, for whatever reason, and we end up with, for one example, a 900 rated member playing in a >2000 rated tournament... it wastes the time of those members rated over 2000 to have to play the 900 rated member and that 900 member will obviously get slaughtered. And sometimes the other way around occurs. A 2000+ member will enter a low rated tournament... I can't remove that player so he/she is set to win... hence I can't start that tournament.
