Live tournament with delayed rounds

Hi. Is it possible to run a (club) tournament on chess.com with "live" time controls (e.g. blitz or rapid), but where the rounds can be delayed so only one round is played per week, for example, or even where the players of a particular game organize a suitable time to play?

SPIRITOF_AUSTRALIA

Yes it's possible. I am running currently amateur rapid chess league season 1. It's kinda like what you are saying. It's rapid 15+2. A player gets about a week to play a round. He has to negotiate with his paired opponent and decide a time and then play the round at that time.

It's a team event. 4 players a team. Team rating shouldn't be more than 6600.

@SPIRITOF_AUSTRALIA great! That sounds exactly like what I want. How do you create, run and manage the tournament? Do you just create a "New Club Event" for the tournament? I can see that you create forum threads for people to coordinate their games where they also post the results. Do you then manually enter the results in the tournament somehow?

@TimBrown mate first create a club. Name it as the tournament name. Then create club rules and tournament rules. Then start inviting players for the tournament. Advertise the tournament.

After players join your club. You can create a Google form or tell the players who are interested to play in the tournament to message you. Then you prepare a Google sheet. Where you can post all the players username. Then you ask players who wanna be the team's captain! Then make the list of the team's captain, team's name and logo and rating. For deciding rating you need to create a rule that what would be the max rating of any team. Also of players. I. My tournament player's peak rating between 1st November 2023 to 30th April 2024 is considered as player's rating. Announce the tournament prizes. Like I have announced prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize. Best board 1,2,3,4 player etc...

Then after you get a good number of teams registered then you decide the tournament format. Whether you wanna a round robin or Swiss tournament or a group format tournament. Now in my tournament I am having 14 teams. So I have decided to play in a group format. 2 groups. 7 teams per group. They will play round robin ie 6 rounds. After that top 4 teams from each group qualifies for knockout stage.

So I downloaded an app from play store of chess pairings. I posted the team's name and created groups and pairings.

Then I create forum. For each round a player is given 7 days to play their game. They can negotiate with their opponent and play at the decided time.

If you wanna create a table in the forum then click on <> in the comment section and then post the Java program their. Then your table will be ready. If you want it I can give you the Java program.

In your case after making a team you can tell player to create their team's club and challenge their paired team's club at the decided time. Just like we do in LCWL matches for Australia!

But the problem in your idea is that all the players of the team and the opponent team should be available at the same time!

Whereas in mine tournament it's about individual player giving time to his paired opponent!

And when the player plays the game they challenge each other on chess.com. So I don't have to arrange a match for them. They do it by themselves!

Btw, if you are creating such tournament I am interested to join the tournament alongside my team! I also could help you in organising it!

Oh, so chess.com doesn't actually support it, and you have to use an external chess pairings app. Maybe that's what I'll have to do too. Thanks for the detailed info though.
