Problems setting up a tournament

I thought I had this figured out, but I guess I was wrong, can someone please help me?

Last night I set up my 1st tournament (The Dark Knight Opens).  I didn't want to exclude anyone, so I set the minimum number of games and timeout percentages both to zero.  Right after I had set it up, I tried to register for it and it said that I needed a timeout percentage lower than 0%.  Ooops.  So I went to "edit tounament settings," changed the timeout percentage to 100% instead of 0% as I laughed at my obvious rookie mistake.  With the new setting in place it allowed me to register and I went to sleep.

When I woke up this morning, I was still the only person registered for the tournament.  I had a message from someone who had tried to register saying that it gave him the same 0% message.  I tried changing it again, but no mater how many times I clicked "submit changes" (or how many different numbers I tried (100, 99, 90, 10, etc.)) everytime I went back into "edit settings" it was back at zero.  So I cancelled the tournament (I was the only one registered for it anyway) and restarted it (with a slightly different title, just to make sure it was clearly different).  This time there was no problem, and I had 3 other people besides myself join within the 1st half hour.  Feeling satisfied, I left for work.

When I got home, it still had only 4 players registered, and I had another note from someone who said they were getting the 0% message and couldn't register.  ???  This is a new tournament, and zero was never entered as a value.  I went into "edit settings" and saw that it was zero, and again, tried many times to change it, and each time it went back to zero.  What's going on?  I don't want to cancel the tournament again, because I have other people registered for it this time.  Why would it allow people to register for a short time and then change to a setting that would exclude EVERYONE (instead of NO ONE)?

Any help I can get resolving this issue would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you.

Hmmm... I am not sure, but the 0% Time-outs means:

Only people with a Time-out % of 0 would be able to enter the tournament...

Exactly, which is why I couldn't even register for my own tournament originally.  The question now is how to stop it from going back to that setting (especially since I never entered zero after restarting the tournament from scratch).

Here's an interesting new wrinkle.  As I've been sitting here trying to change the setting and have it stay that way, I see a 5th name on the "players registered" list, and yet it still says that there are only 4 players registered.  This is on the exact same page.  It says 4 players, and lists 5 names?  Am I in the Twilight Zone?

I tried to registered and it kick me out.

1.Just cancel your tournament!

2. Start new/old/ tournament again!

3. Invite the persons, who were registered before!..

I already tried that once.  It obviously worked for a minute too, since some of us were able to register (for a little while anyway).  That's what makes this so weird.  I can't keep restarting it over and over again.  I'm hoping it's something on the server's side that the Chess.com gods can solve, cuz I've tried everything I can think of on this end.

Ban them!

Ok, King Jon was just able to join, so maybe the new settings are finally sticking.  Hopefully I won't be getting another message in a few hours that someone's having trouble joining.  (crossing my fingers).

Anyone who previously had trouble, please try again now.  If anyone has any more problems, please let me know.  Thank You.

Feyterman,  I'm glad I'm not the only one who was experiencing this problem.  Here is my newest theory (and it's really only a theory):  For some reason, whenever you "edit settings" the "timeout percentage" resets to zero.  So even if you were modifying something else, when you "submit changes" it also changes the timeout percentage to zero.  If you need to modify anything, make sure you also enter the correct timeout percentage before you "submit changes" and as long as you don't go back in to modify anything else, your last timeout variable should remain in effect.

Everytime I would change the timeout percentage, I would go back into "edit settings" to see if it stayed at that value, and it would always be at zero again (so I assumed that it wasn't changing).  However, if I changed the value, and "submit changes," even tho I can't see what the current setting is, when I tried to register my daughter for the tournament (who actually has a timeout percentage of 100 (her only game so far)) it would say "You need a timeout percentage lower than 100%" or 99% or whatever I entered.  I haven't modified any settings recently, and everyone seems to be joining with no problem now.

So the bug (for those staffers in charge of finding and exterminating bugs) seems to be that whenever you click "edit settings" the timeout percentage changes to zero % whether you told it to change or not.  So until the bug is fixed, I recommend that whenever you make ANY changes, you also change the timeout percentage to whatever you had it at, otherwise it will change to zero % automatically.

With a timeout percentage of only 1%, I'm afraid very few people will be able to join you.  Your 0% timeouts really puts you in the minority.

JB4times4
ya, your right. So I left it at the default (after i started a new one) and I only have 1 person joined...so we will see!
