“Timed out too many games in last 90 days”

So I lost some “daily games” from being on vacation and then forgetting about them. But now I can’t join daily tournaments? Is this a joke? Why is there a penalty for timing out daily games? I can still play in any other tournament mode.

The idea is to prevent players with high timeout values from joining tourneys and timing out in a bunch of games. It is up to the TD to decide if they allow a high timeout ratio or not.

So it’s based on number of games played/timed out games? So can I fix it by winning a lot of games quickly?

You times out 15 games in March and February.

So you will have to win more than 135 games to get your ratio below 10%.

The alternative is to wait out the 90 day period.

You don't have to win the games I believe. Pretty sure you only have to play them to the end or even forfeit. But yeah, @notmtwain suggested probably the best option to wait 90 days. I didn't know it would lapse, I thought it was more permanent

lol so I could resign 135 games and then play daily tournaments peshka.png

one more question though, do the games need to be rated?

The Help page answer doesn't say. https://support.chess.com/article/319-what-are-timeouts-why-cant-i-play-in-tournaments-because-of-them

It makes sense, however, that they would have to be rated.

I know the feeling, it's very tough. I went out of town and came back to find all 80+ games I had been playing to be timed out. I had an advantage in over 50% of the games. It's rough, but that's just the way it's designed. This rule is just here to prevent tournaments from having games timed out, which would be unfair and give players paired against one of these time out players an advantage against others that played full games in every round.

That's why when you go out of town, turn on vacation mode.  Even non-members get up to 30 days I believe (might be 60).

If you play in tournaments with no vacation mode, that's your own problem.  I never play in those!

Also, that's what they build cell phones for.  Use your cell phone.  If you are on a cruise, where there is no internet, set Vacation Mode on!  Problem solved!

Also, while waiting out the 90 days, you can still play individual rated matches.  If you complete a few of them, then the ratio would be higher come May when the February forfeits go away compared to if you did nothing.

Example:  Jan/Feb/Mar, you have 80 games with 40 timeouts, 20 on 2/28, 20 on 3/31.  20 of those 80 games were in Jan, 30 in Feb, 30 in Mar

If you play nothing, come May 31, you'd have 20 timeouts in 30 games, 66 percent.

If you played and completed say, 30 games between now and end of May, you'd then have 20 out of 60 instead of 20 out of 30, and only 33 percent.

Lower the percent, the more tournament options you may have.

And yet somehow you are up to 52 games at the present time...

If you start 80 games with the knowledge you will be going on holida And then bleat because you didn't finish them,, then you should take some blame.

It looks like a lot of them are tournament games, yet your timeout percentage is still above 10%.

Was it hard to find tournaments to accept you?

kinkajouthedragon

start a lot of new games and resign them
