My grandfather taught me how to move the pieces in 1967 and that is when I first became aware Bobby Fischer & I would have been 7-8 years old. I soon after challenged an MIT professor / chess team captain (my mom's cousin) to play, and he agreed to play but without a board. I resigned after he said pawn to king 4. I had no idea how complex chess was, and the idea that people can play without a board scared me off, outside of playing a few games with a cousin who was my age. Summer of 2023 I got interested again and started doing puzzles.
