Cedar Rapids Chess Club
The Cedar Rapids Chess Club meets Wednesday evenings from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. We meet at the Downtown Public Library in Beems A Auditorium.
- This is an All-Ages Club. Adults and school-age chess players are all welcome.
- All skill levels are welcome. Our most experienced players love to teach. So, if you would like to learn, we are here to help.
- There is a short lecture / news section at 6PM most weeks, the rest of the time is free play.
- There are no fees. The Cedar Rapids Chess Club provides all chess boards, sets, and clocks. We even have books that you may borrow.
- The third Wednesday of every month we play an Unrated Quad G/10 + 5 (You must arrive by 6PM to enter). Quads are determined by Shawn's best guess of rating levels while trying to avoid having family members play each other.
- Winners of Quads qualify for the CR Championship in December (G/10+5) format TBD based on entries.
- CR Championship will be held Dec 4 & 11.
- Currently qualified members can be seen on the 24_Winners tab
- Format of tournaments rotates normal chess, thematic tournament, Chess 960
- Sept was normal chess
- October 16 will be a Danish Gambit Thematic
