My first educated experience playing chess was in my freshman year of college when I was 18.  I had a Mathematics professor that had an ongoing wager with me.  If I defeated him in a game of chess, he would exempt me from my final exam, with an A. lol  Needless to say, I had to take the exam, but I learned how to play chess as well as how to write and draw linear equations. lol
