Insanity Awaits! Get Ready For The Chess.com Crazyhouse Chess Championship

It's time to go crazy over the chessboard with the next edition of the Chess.com Community Championships! The Chess.com Crazyhouse Chess Championship will take place between December 2 and 6 and feature an increased $7,500 prize fund.

Crazyhouse is like Bughouse for the lone wolf. Every piece you capture goes into your piece bank. You can then spend a turn to place one of the pieces you've captured into the game to work for your army—and that's when things can get wild.

Here's a video of GM Hikaru Nakamura showing what super-grandmaster Crazyhouse looks like:

Like in other editions, we'll have eight qualifiers preceding the Knockout Final. Each qualifier will be a two-hour arena in the 3+0 time control, with the winner moving on to the Final. Make sure you join Chess.com's official Community Club to play in the qualifiers!

This time, the qualifiers also take place across four different days, with two events per day. You can check the complete schedule for the qualifiers by clicking here or the image below:

To ensure a safe playing environment for everyone, we may require participants to join a video call for fair play checks. Players who join the fair-play call must set up two cameras from different angles in the room. Declining to comply will result in a player's removal from the event.

The Final will be an eight-player double-elimination Knockout, also with a 3+0 time control. Matches will consist of a countdown clock format, so prepare for insane games as players strive to rack up as many wins as they can before the time runs out.

We invite you to watch the live broadcast of the Final hosted by AnittaDrink on our Community Twitch and YouTube channels.

Until now, GM Awonder Liang has been the only player ever to win two Chess.com Community titles. His first crown came earlier this year when he won the Chess.com Bughouse Chess Championship. Will he come back to win the "individual version" of Bughouse and set himself as the king of Chess.com's Community Championships? Or will one of the previous champions catch up to him in the last event of 2024? Tune into the broadcast to find out!
