Anish Giri To Take On Four Young Prodigies Simultaneously In Next Kids vs. Stars
We're excited to announce the next installment of Kids vs. Stars, this time with a twist! On November 15, get ready to see none other than GM Anish Giri taking on four of the brightest young stars in chess—all at the same time!
Starting at 1 p.m. ET/19:00 CET, the world's most ruthless GM on Twitter/X will play a clock simul against some of the scariest kids in the game: IM Alice Lee, GM Shreyas Royal, GM Andy Woodward, and IM Ryo Chen. With the clock ticking down on all four boards, can Giri keep up with the youngsters who are half his age?
Giri is the strongest player to ever participate in Kids vs. Stars. However, the Kids' team is also the toughest to play in the event yet. On top of it all, Giri will not be able to unleash the full power of his trash talk (after all, they are still kids—despite their impressive ratings).
This begs the question: How will the Netherlands' number-one do against these four young prodigies? Will his experience and super-grandmaster status prevail, or will the vigor of the youth crash his spirit?
The match will be a clock simul, where Giri gets 65+15 on his clock while each kid gets 10+15. The first side to score 2.5 points wins it all.
You can catch the live broadcast of Kids vs. Stars on our Twitch and YouTube channels, with commentary by FM Mike Klein. As a bonus for chess fans, all the players will have their microphones turned on to talk about their game to the audience. Can Giri keep his jokes clean for two hours straight?
Who do you think will win in this edition of Kids vs. Stars? Let us know in the comment section below (and also on Anish Giri's Twitter/X posts).
