Fast-fingers at the ready—the new 2024 Chess.com Community Championships series is launching later this month with the Hyperbullet Championship.

The Community Championships is your chance to win a crown and cash on Chess.com and first up, it's the fastest event of the lot. It is also one of three major championship announcements Chess.com is making on Wednesday, along with the 2024 Speed Chess Championship, live and in-person from Paris, and the Bullet Chess Championship.

The Hyperbullet Championship on May 30 to 31 boasts a prize pool of $2,000 and will features members from around the world battling it out with just 30 seconds a game to make their moves.

It is the ultimate in speed chess. Nothing gets the blood pumping like a hyperbullet bout. The event will start with a qualifier on Thursday, before the finals on Friday.

The Hyperbullet Championship is the first of a series of eight Community Championships tournaments in 2024 with a total prize fund of $37,500, followed by:

  • Chess960 Championship: June 17-21
  • The Spell Chess Championship: August 1-2
  • Bughouse Championship: August 19-23
  • The Duck Chess Championship: September 19-20
  • Fog of War Championship: October 17-18
  • Seirawan Chess Championship: November 7-8
  • Crazyhouse Championship: December 2-6

Chess.com’s Daily Chess Championship is also being incorporated into the Community Championships. It runs all year alongside other events. In 2025, the Community Championships will be expanded to 12 events with a prize fund of $50,000.

All Community Championship events will offer open qualifiers and a knockout finals format.

WIM Ayelen Martinez, Chess.com’s Senior Manager for Community Activations, said: "These events are designed to give you the chance to compete in high-level events, try new and different formats, and perhaps come across a top player.

"There are cash prizes to be won and the chance to win something special that everyone in our huge worldwide community of chess players will recognize."

The Hyperbullet Championship starts with eight 30-minute arena qualifiers with arena winners qualifying for the double-elimination knockout final on May 31. The overall winner will take home a prize of $600 with the rest of the fund going to placing and the top streamer.
