Get Ready For PCL: Arena Royale
The PRO Chess League: Arena Royale is right around the corner, with action beginning on September 16. Be sure to catch your favorite PCL teams in battle during this exciting eight-day event!
The Saint Louis Arch Bishops are loaded as usual. They are the only squad with two top-ten players in the world: GM Fabiano Caruana and GM Wesley So. They are joined by countrymen GM Leinier Dominguez and GM Jeffery Xiong. Streamers GM Hans Niemann and GM Benjamin Bok are also on board.
The Russian squad boasts its typical strength, including World Cup semifinalist GM Vladimir Fedoseev, quarterfinalist GM Andrey Esipenko, and world championship candidate GM Kirill Alekseenko. Other superstars on the team include GM Evgeny "The Professor" Tomashevsky and GM Alexey Sarana.
World #7 GM Anish Giri returns to the Canada ChessBrahs with GM Eric Hansen, another original ChessBrah GM Robin Van Kampen, and another star Dutchman, the winner of the 2021 Tata Steel Masters, GM Jorden van Foreest.
France stars world top-10 GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, who is joined by Chess.com contributor GM Romain Edouard and, in a surprise acquisition, Chess.com's own GM Robert Hess.
The Indian Yogis feature several of that nation's young stars, including GMs Nihal Sarin, Praggnanandhaa R, Raunak Sadhwani, and Aravindh Chithambaram.
