Kashlinskaya swapped places with GM Harika Dronavalli, who lost to GM Alexandra Kosteniuk. The former world champion finally won a game after her disastrous start of 1/5.

Harika had been under pressure throughout the game, but just when she could liquidate to a theoretically drawn endgame, she blundered mate:

Reigning European Women's Champion Kashlinskaya won a good game against GM Marie Sebag, who was surprised in the opening and spent 35 minutes on her ninth move. She probably had less time than she needed in the tactics that followed.

Meanwhile, IM Zhansaya Abdumalik is doing quite well, especially as one of the two non-grandmasters in the field and a last-minute replacement for GM Zhao Xue. On Saturday the Kazakh master defeated another ex-world champion, GM Antoaneta Stefanova, who is now in last place.
