NFL Films Presents: The Game of Chess
Chess.com is excited to continue growing our great game in collaboration with NFL Films and NFL players. This new year comes with the debut of a special TV presentation and two new playable bots.
Now, Chess.com is happy to announce an upcoming NFL Films production: "NFL Films Presents: The Game of Chess." This episode of the long-running NFL Films Presents series continues a tradition of nearly 30 years of top-notch looks into NFL sagas and storylines. This special presentation comes on the heels of three BlitzChamps chess tournaments starring NFL players. The most recent, BlitzChamps III, was even broadcast live from the NFL Films studios!
Narrated by future Hall of Famer and three-time BlitzChamps participant Larry Fitzgerald and featuring BlitzChamps III commentators John Urschel and Cynthia Frelund among many others, "The Game of Chess" premieres tomorrow, January 1, 2025 at 12:30 am ET, on the Fox Sports 1 (FS1) network, and also airs again on FS1 on January 2, 2025 at 7:00 pm ET/4:00 pm PT. Starting January 2, 2025, you can also enjoy it on demand on YouTube—check back here or at the NFL Films channel to find it!

In addition to "NFL Films Presents: The Game of Chess", we are glad to introduce BlitzChamps II winner Drue Tranquill and BlitzChamps III victor Justin Reid as the latest members of our stacked roster of playable Chess.com bots. Challenge them on New Year’s Day!
Chess and football truly are a winning combination. Watch an NFL broadcast and soon enough you will hear the game of football itself compared to a chess match. The comparison is apt, given the rich, deep strategy that goes into both endeavors—whether gameplay happens over 100 yards or 64 squares. That is just one reason why Chess.com is so excited to keep working with NFL Films and stay connected with chess-loving football stars and fans.
Be sure to tune into FS1 and NFL Network for "NFL Films Presents: The Game of Chess," then try your hand at the new bots. Let us know in the comments what you thought and how it went!
