I believe that real danger to chess is not cheating, but online chess itself and false accusations. Worst scenario is when everyone is lured into online chess and then an honest player might be marked as a cheater and unfairly penalized by a flawed system. History teaches us that all systems made by humans have flaws.
This is a serious ethical problem. I think that online chess games must never be rated. Only physical presence and serious body-scanning can ensure credible game performances and ratings. Not move analysis, accuracy score deviations or something like that. I've seen how speculative and subjective move analysis could be. Players deserve trust after they've passed OTB security. Online players can never have trust, unfortunately, there are too many ways to cheat even with cameras and screen recordings and no algorithm can catch every cheater while avoiding false accusations. Smart cheating is a real working approach and some experiments (like that youtuber who was cheating 8 months straight) prove that.
