Like many, I took up playing chess online after watching the Netflix series "The Queen's Gambit" - at age 78.  As I live in a rural area, there aren't many opportunities to play OTB, but fortunately we have online chess and a global community of players. I enjoy following chess news, learning a bit about chess history, and actually playing the game.  My elderly brain has limited working memory and functions rather slowly, so I mostly confine myself to Daily Game time controls. I've enjoyed and benefitted from the lessons on chess.com and recently began studying the art of calculation on Chessable.
