Note: Please visit our site (Phoenix Chess and Coffee) on meetup.com to join the group and RSVP
When: Each Saturday, from 3PM until around 7PM (although sometimes it goes on for longer)Play chess and drink coffee with our group at the Coffee Plantation off of Shea Blvd, in Scottsdale! The Coffee Plantation is located near the movie theater behind the Butterfields pancake restaurant, so it's pretty easy to find. There's a connected Gelato shop next to it, too, for those who are feeling adventuresome. Chess meetups usually last a couple of hours. If you have a good chess board, please bring it! A lot of people like to bring their chess clocks, too. If you don't have a chess board, you're still welcome to come (technically, only half of the people have to bring boards for everyone to be able to play). Please note: This is a fixed, regular weekly meetup, so even though only a couple of people might RSVP, usually anywhere from 10-20 people show up every week, so keep that in mind. If at all possible, please RSVP, as this helps to show members how popular the meetup actually is! Thanks! We don't have a membership fee, and our meetup group really only has one rule that we ask:
Please don't take the game too seriously. Winning and losing doesn't matter here. We're not playing rated games, and this isn't a tournament. Just have fun with it, and make some friends! If you do this, I guarantee you will not only have a blast, but will most likely improve your chess game over time without even realizing it!
One secondary note I should make (although it isn't really a rule), is that as long as we keep buying drinks/snacks/etc and showing our friendliness and patronage towards the Coffee Plantation, they will continue to welcome us, so please keep that in mind. If we bring drinks/food with us from other places or only ever order things like water, it's only a matter of time before our group would end up without a home... :-\7366 East Shea BoulevardScottsdale, AZ, 85260www.meetup.com/coffeechess/Contact Email:
