I learned to play chess when I was in the second grade, but never pursued it after learning the rules because I could never win. Hey, I was seven years old, and thought that there were better things to do, such as play with action figures with movable limbs rather than carved blocks of wood! 

A few months ago, my signifincant other and I watched Queen for a Day on DVD, and she got hooked to the game. She really related to Sandrine Bonnaire's character. She signed us up to a local chess club, and about a couple of months later, I joined chess.com.
