Chess, bridge, golf, Spanish, classical music, jazz, physical fitness, cooking, travel, and reading. And three terrific grandkids. I get to retire to all this in mid 2010. Back in the late 70s and early 80s, I had a USCF rating of 1533. Long layoff, but now I'm studying again and playing online. I admire Dr. Tarrash's book of 300 games; I enjoy instructional videos. Tactics Trainer and Chess Mentor are great programs, I tried to use them for at least a half-hour every day, but I don't yet have the time to keep to that. Another thing to look forward to in retirement. I very much enjoy CC and I've learned much from it, but I miss being able to play slow OTB games under regular OTB rules. Unfortunately, I rarely have the block of time necessary to sit down and play a slow OTB game, either online or in person. I'd like my Friends to know that I seem to approach chess in binges where I'll play for 5-6 months without studying much, but then I'll study for 5-6 months without playing, too. So, if you find me unavailable for months at a time, please don't take it personally. I'll challenge you when I'm back in playing mode.
