Greetings chess enthusiasts! I am GM Abasov Nijat, hailing from Azerbaijan – a land steeped in chess tradition.
Here’s a glimpse into my chess journey:
- I earned the title of Grandmaster at the age of 15.
- In 2013, I emerged victorious in the World Championship U-18 (Blitz)
- In 2023 I reached the semifinals of the FIDE World Cup, facing 7 times higher-rated opponents along the way. It was a journey to remember.
- In 2024 I participated in the most prestigious FIDE event (After the World Championship Match) The Candidates tournament held in Toronto.
Coaching experience:
- Since 2012, I have been coaching.
- I’ve been mentoring the young generation, helping them win numerous National and Continental Youth Championships.
- Through collaborative efforts with my students, we have achieved significant milestones in their chess journeys, including international titles such as IM and GM.
- I was delighted to be part of my student’s success in reaching the Women's World Cup finals.
- I’ve worked closely with elite players during their top-tier tournaments, including the Candidates tournament. The partnership helped them to have podium finishes – among the top three.
