  My user name in honor of Stoney Indian Pass Trail in Glacier National Park in Montana (https://www.visitmt.com/listings/general/national-park-trail/stoney-indian-trail), which has been my favorite back country hike that I have ever taken.    My avatar is a photograph that I took of the white King in a chess set that I inherited from my oldest brother when he passed away.    

In regards to my chess, I am simply attempting to be a better player.   Although I have known how to move the pieces since I was a child, I never devoted any time to the game until around September of 2023, which was when I started studying the game a little more in depth.  I appreciate every game and hope to learn something from each one.   I have no illusions of grandeur....simply would like to be a competent player who makes less stupid blunders, which I seem very prone to making.
