For some reason, a country is required in order to make a group. To be fair, I chose Canada, since I live in Seattle and I wanted to make everyone feel included. This is, to my knowledge at least, the 1st Chess Club of Cascadia.
Let's not worry too much about border disputes. If you think you belong here, you belong here, no matter where you live. We're in Phase 0 of the group, so if you find yourself here consider yourself one of the founders. The mission of this group is to attract lots of members, and have lots of games with each other - online and off. The idea grew out of a difficulty I've been having playing OTB with anyone close to my (novice) skill level. I'm imagining that this group could grow large enough that we could have actual OTB tournaments in multiple cities.
Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to invite as many people from this area into the group. People that you play chess with online, or who you know in real life. Viva la Cascadia!
