I'm half Chamorro, half Jewish American. I was born in Culver City (virtually right next to Los Angeles) and moved to Guam in 2003. My first chess memory (which is rather depressing) was right after 9/11. At that time I was old enough to understand what had happened. My dad had an old plastic mini chess set, and I picked up two rooks, set them next to each other, and said, "Those are the towers." My dad said, "They're from the chess set. Want to see what the other pieces look like?" And thus began my chess journey... I'm currently doing an IT internship in preparation for returning to California, where I'll be majoring in violin performance at the University of Southern California and part-timing for Microsoft in Silicon Valley.
